The APEC 9th Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI) Meeting was held on Feb. 18-20, 2017 in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Prof. Dr. S. Y. Wu, CEO of the ACABT and also the Dean of College of Engineering of Feng Chia University, and Dr. C. Y. Chu, Executive Secretary of the ACABT, and also the Director of the Master’s Program of Green Energy Science and Technology of Feng Chia University, introduced the organization of the ACABT, shared HyMeTek core technology, and presented current big events of the ACABT, such as 2016 APEC Workshop and Short-term Training Course on Promoting Community in APEC’s Rural Area, and international interactions with APEC economies.
Topic issues of APEC 9th PPSTI include (a) natural hazards science, given numerous PPSTI activities in this area; (b) policies that support strong STI ecosystems in the APEC region, such as those that boost S&T entrepreneurship, communicate STI to the public, and support STI human resources development, including enhancing STI collaboration in APEC through common understanding of research integrity and enhancing participation of youth and women in STEM.
On this business trip, Prof. Dr. Wu and Dr. Chu also visited Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), National Center for Technological Progress (NACENTECH), National Institute for Science and Technology Policy and Strategy Studies (NISTPASS), and Nha Trang University (NTU). Both sides discussed biomass technologies, green energy developments and cooperation. Future establishment of an ACABT branch in Viet Nam was mentioned as well.
